Exclusive Trailer Premiere
ComingSoon has exclusively debuted the official trailer for Money by Sundown, a brand-new dark comedy centered around a chaotic kidnapping. The project comes from One Tree Entertainment and arrives ahead of its upcoming Digital release later this month.
Plot and Premise
The story follows a stressful situation where a teenage daughter is abducted and the ransom demands are completely impossible to pay. With few options remaining, the mother must turn to her lying, cheating ex-husband whom she hoped never to rely on again.
Character Tripp Holliday is described as charismatic, reckless, and always convinced he has a plan, making him the absolute last person Jessamine Holliday wants to call. However, with kidnappers demanding $80,000 by sundown, sheer desperation leaves no room for pride.
Tone and Setting
Every new solution creates an even bigger problem for the pair as they navigate a wild mix of suspense, dark comedy, and deep family dysfunction. The narrative proves that the people who drive us crazy can occasionally be the ones we need the most.
Festival Debut
Before hitting digital storefronts, the Southern dark comedy movie is scheduled to make its official world premiere at the Rome International Film Festival. The screening will take place in Rome, Georgia, on Saturday, November 7 at noon.
Cast and Crew
The dark comedy features performances by Claire Bronson, known for Mr Mercedes, Bandit, and Greenland, alongside Burgess Jenkins, known for Blue Ridge: The Series, The Girl Who Believed in Miracles, The Young the Restless, and One Tree Hill.
The film is written and directed by filmmaker Geoffrey Gunn. The supporting cast includes Chapel Oaks, Matt Servitto, and Brian Ashton Smith.
Director Vision
Director Geoffrey Gunn explained that having lived and worked in the South for over a decade, he wanted to capture the real place he knew instead of the typical parodies seen on screen.
He also aimed to tell a fun story about larger-than-life schemers and dreamers, noting that the end result resembles a tall tale, keeping with the tradition of good Southern stories.
Release Details
Money by Sundown will officially become available to rent and purchase on Digital platforms on November 17, 2026.
